September 27th - A Round Up
We left Home of Hope, Mchinji at 8am this morning. Before we left we fitted in preaching at Devotions (pic 1 the children ant devotions) and Breakfast with Lucy.

It was lovely to share our final meal with Lucy and we were able to just chat as friends.
So now to look back, and mention some things which haven’t been mentioned yet.
Cynthia. Cynthia runs the pads enterprise at Home of Hope. I was able to spend some time catching up with her and her youngest daughter Tanya. Cynthia calls her children my children as we are sisters. I have known Cynthia since she was 15 and I was 19 so we are close.

I would love to share some of the videos with you, but without strong enough WiFi I am unable to upload the videos to YouTube.
On Thursday the Home of Hope received over 100 young people looking for a place in Form 1 and at the boarding house. All these children have families, however they are unable to afford to send their children onto Secondary school. They each had an interview and 40 children were chosen.
One thing to note which is very different in Malawi is that in the UK the average class size is 30 (ish), in Malawi to keep government teachers each class must have 60 pupils in it. This means that some of the pupils at both the primary and secondary school are from outside, these are the most needy from local villages.
Next Gillian sent out with us some tennis balls. I was able to present these to the headmaster. It was so happy and will use them as rewards. As you can see from his picture below excitement was abounding!

There is so much more I could share, so please if you want to hear more please contact me at Jane@malawiorphanfund.uk
For now I’m going to sign off with a couple of my favourite pictures and the dresses which Anna and I had made whilst we were in Mchinji.

Chips for dinner - safe to say we were beyond excited!

With Lucy and Linda in the office.

And finally us in our dresses.
But this trip was all about these children. Not the added bonuses of chips, dresses and hugs.

Tonana Home of Hope. See you later. We will be back soon, and you will be travelling with us in our hearts.
